She is also the author of The Ultimate Solo Travel Woman Guide and the host of The Solo Travel Woman Podcast, where she inspires and equips women to embrace the adventure of traveling solo. My story
I’m Sara, a passionate explorer who’s fallen in love with seeing the world…solo.
Growing up, I was the quintessential daddy’s girl, always looking to my father for advice and inspiration. As a Marine, he had the chance to travel the globe, and his stories of far-off places and unforgettable experiences fueled my dreams of adventure. Though our family’s travels mostly consisted of road trips to visit relatives, I knew that one day, I’d carve my own path across the world.
But dreams don’t always come easy. As an adult, I constantly tried to plan trips, only to realize I didn’t have a travel buddy. And without role models in solo female travel to look up to, those dreams seemed just out of reach. That’s when I decided: enough waiting—it was time to make it happen.
For my 30th birthday, I set aside my fears, took the leap, and booked my first solo trip to Greece and Turkey. That journey changed my life. It ignited a deep desire to create a community where women like me could find the resources, inspiration, and confidence to travel solo. I wanted to empower women to experience the world without waiting for someone to join them, and to never let fear hold them back.
In 2019, the Solo Travel Woman blog was born followed by the Solo Travel Woman Podcast —a place for women to find tips, safety advice, and practical resources for solo adventures. My mission has always been to help others create lives filled with passion, purpose, and prosperity through travel.
